An artists'
residency in the
Hindu Kush
Where art deepens through stillness, and creativity meets the rhythms of the Chitral Valley.
Set in the Hindu Kush mountains overlooking the Chitral Valley in northern Pakistan, Dolomutz O Dūr is an emerging artists' residency dedicated to nurturing creative practice through collaboration, healing, and meaningful engagement with place.
Once home to Prince Burhanuddin, son of the Mehtar of Chitral, and long known for its rich wildlife and mountain ecology, Dolomutz carries a layered legacy of movement, resilience, and story. Today, it offers artists from Pakistan and around the world a sanctuary for reflection, experimentation, and exchange.
Site-Responsiveness
Place is not a backdrop but an active collaborator.
Cultural Continuity
Local knowledge, craft, and oral history as living intelligence.
Ecological Awareness
Creative work must engage the environmental realities of our time.
Hospitality and Care
Sustainable creative practice requires care.
01

02
Community & Exchange
Through storytelling circles, youth mentorship, and public programming, we foster meaningful engagement between visiting artists and the local community.
03
Ecology & Wellbeing
From cedar forests and wild roses to exceptionally clean mountain air, Dolomutz offers a holistic environment where nourishment, movement, and rest are integral to creative work.
Dolomutz O Dūr advances site-responsive artistic practice from the periphery, reframing geographic remoteness as intellectual and creative advantage.
Dolomutz O Dūr is not a retreat from the world, but a site of collective possibility, where artists live, work, and learn within a landscape that is strong, storied, and generous.
